Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in Puy-de-Domme France on the 9th of August, 1976. She was the eldest of four children. Since a young age, her dentist doctors parents and teacher mom supported her love of theatre and drama. It was this love which trumped her original desire to become a primatologist. At the age of a young lady, her rise to stardom was rapid and marked with early recognition and success. Before she began to pursue her acting career, Tautou took part in Jeunes Premiers a French talent search TV program which was a part of Canal+ in 1998. Also, she was awarded the the title of Best Young Actress for the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. Tautou was born into the context of a Catholic home, and was a member of the her church even though she went to school in The Institut Catholique de Paris. The modeling and acting careers of Tautou have been interspersed. Tautou was the model for L'Oreal Mont Blanc Chanel, and is often referred to as the Chanel Muse. Also, she has an intense interest in photography and recently presented an exhibit of her work at the Arles Festival under the title Superficial. Her photographs are largely about fame and celebrity. The exhibit also includes a collection of self portraits in addition. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom as well as international recognition with her debut role as the lead in the film Le Fabuleux Destin de l'Amelie Poulain. Amelie made international waves in the field of box office, and won awards around the globe. It is currently the most successful French film of the French language on the market in US. In the following year, she was a part of British dramas, including Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Jeunet The long day of the fiancailles. In the following year, she moved to Hollywood where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
